Ludwig Van Beethoven (1770 to 1827) Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Bonn in Germany, on December 17, 1770. His mother was a singer in the service of the Elector of Cologne. His father was quick to recognize his son’s talent for music, and started giving him piano lessons at the young age of four.
