Among the religious reformers of the 16th century, Martin Luther was the most aggressive religious and extensive writer of education of that period. His radical views of the role of the Roman Church and the education system shortly wide spread throughout Europe. It was his interest and sympathy in the "common people", which made him eager to provide for their training, especially on religion. Luther upheld the Bible as the Supreme authority for the Christian.
