She made her mark in 1898 when she, and her husband Pierre, announced the discovery of two new elements, polonium and radium. Five years later they shared the Nobel Prize in physics. Marie Curie was the first female recipient of a Nobel Prize. Manya Sklodowska, later to be known as Marie Curie, was born in a small apartment in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1867. She was the youngest of five children, and had an infinite love for her mother who was a teacher. Manya's father was also a teacher who taught physics and mathematics.....
