According to the Scholastic Children’s Dictionary there are two parts of speech to the meaning love; the verb form is to like someone or something very much, the noun form is a strong liking of something, as in a love of music. If you are in love with someone, you are passionately fond of him or her. Synonyms of love are affection, tenderness, attachment, endearment, devotion, and loyalty. Love is exemplified in many ways: maternal, paternal, brotherly, parental, and platonic.
