In America, freedom is not only revered, it is defined. Our rights and liberties as Americans are outlined and rendered precise in the Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Certain freedoms may be philosophically demanding for some Americans to accept, such as the ever controversial right to bear arms, but nevertheless they exist, and they persist. Handgun violence is at an all time high today in the United States. The number of people who die each year from handguns, most of whom are children, is 100 times higher in the United States than in many other countries around the world.
