Lawrence's "Snake": An Analysis
In D.H. Lawrence's poem entitled "Snake," he examines the
differences between feelings and education. He expresses this theme in
three ways. The speaker knows that he should kill the snake, he questions
his own manliness, and tries to hit it with a log.
The speaker in this poem learns that if you listen to your feelings
then you will be a lot better off in life. D.H. Lawrence does an excellent
job of displaying this theme through this poem and this is one of the
reasons that he is one of the most prolific English writers of the
