Music Before It Was Recorded
In the early 800’s music was first recorded to paper. It was usually monophonic and was written in Latin. Monophonic is consistent of one continuous sound from a single performer or group of performers.
Sacred music was first recognized as Gregorian chant, wrote after the great Pope Gregory. It signified the religious aspect of the early to middle ages. Chants were performed as a ritual of praying and were very popular in these times.
