The Artist Verses Society
It has always been said that an artist of any type is always against something. In the selection printed in the Baltimore Sun newspaper in 1924, H.L. Mencken states this very same idea. "It is almost as safe to assume that an artist of any dignity is against his country, i.e., against the environment in which God hath placed him, as it is to assume that his country is against the artist." This is an idea that I agree with completely.
