Riders of the Sea: Analysis
John Synge made an attempt to glorify the Irish peasants by writing a play titled “Riders to the Sea” . Instead, they thought it was an insult, and as a result, the peasants rebelled because of their misinterpretation.
First of all, the audience objected to the play because of their lack of education. They were unable to analyze the sub-text and see what Synge was really trying to express. For example, a first incident was when another man died, Maurya would not cry. This showed to them a cold, heartless woman.
