Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), also known as “crib death”, claims the lives of 5,000 infants every year in the United States. It is the sudden or unexplained death of an infant in the first year of its life. It is the number one killer of babies under one year old, with 90% of cases occurring before the age of six months.
