A Time Capsule of An-mei Hsu
The first Item is the Turtle. It teaches An-mei the importance of
not showing her sadness, and the fact that she is sad. It says that she
needs to swallow her tears, for they do nothing but help another person's
joy. This relates to her because it teaches her not to have many emotions.
The next item is the winter white melon. This teaches her another
lesson. It teaches her “If you are greedy, what is inside you, is always
what makes you hungry”. This is a value that one must learn to survive.
