Nicknames
My friend Amanda is also known as “Mandy”. Mandy is just one of
the names considered to be a nickname. Nicknames whether positive or
negative, are only describing a person’s general characteristic, or can be
used when shortening a persons name. Although hurtful nicknames can lower
a person’s reputation and self-esteem, joyful nicknames give the person a
sense of pride. Nicknames are a substitute of a name given to a person in
fun, affection, and belittlement, usually descriptive.
