It’s hard to believe, but Cincinnati once sat in the heart of the Northwest Territory. In the 1700s, this area was the wilds, the untamed and unknown frontier. The British policy up through the Revolutionary War, while we were nothing more than “the colonies” to the queen, was to leave the area to the Indians, who were already angry about being pushed from their eastern territories.
