T.W. Gerron and I met in the fifth grade when I first came to Cooper High School. We weren’t in the same home room, but we were friends from the get go. I met him on the soccer field my first morning. I will never forget it because he outran me to score the winning goal. When the bell rang, thus ending the game, he caught up to me and said, “I thought you might catch me there for a second, but just for a second.” I liked him from the start.
