A Camera's Eye
Here I sit, in some coffeehouse somewhere, staring into the face of
the person in front of me as she rambles on about the happenings of her
day. I don't mean to ignore her and I certainly don't discredit what it is
she's talking about, but I can't help noticing the shadows seeping across
the left side of her face. I blink and see a scene... Pan right, soft
lighting...Action, cut and I've captured her.
My eyes stray now to the tables on the patio, dirty white and round,
a good dimension for a wide angled long shot. The sun is setting in the
West, dancing across the tabletops. I would shoot this scene from the East,
