Cindy said the Indians are grieving for a life that they have been forced to leave behind. I spoke to Ms. Cindy Abrahamson at the Spokane Indian Cultural Office in Wellpinit, Washington. She emphasized that life was "totally different" for the Spokane Indians before the creation of reservations. The daily routine consisted of "gathering roots and berries, or smoking venison, so that the tribe would be prepared for winter."
