The pilgrims that are depicted by Chaucer, in The Canterbury Tales, represent a wide spectrum of society during the late-medieval time period. Chaucer brings his characters to life by using two different methods. In the case of the Squire, Chaucer himself describes the Squire's physical appearance and personality in an effective manner bringing the character to life.
