Voltaire evoked many questions in the publication of the book Candide. The most influential question is how to answer the problem of suffering. Voltaire answers this question though the eyes of the character known as Candide. Candide shows that though his adventures, misfortunes, and trials that everything happens for the best. People suffer everyday though out their life, and the answer to their suffering is to be responsible for their own actions. Candide's views and beliefs lead one into thinking that his answer to the problem of suffering is optimistic.
