Roosevelt and the Great Depression
While the Great Depression of the 1930’s proved devastating to the American economy, the efforts of Franklin D. Roosevelt turned the nation around and helped to improve the terrible conditions of the time. His “New Deal” plan did indeed stabilize the economy and encourage a more just and fair society. Three of his plans, the Agriculture Adjustment Act, the National Recovery Administration, and the Wagner Act became the basis of his “recovery, relief, reform” platform and proved very effective at tackling their specific problems.
